First 30 – Day 1 – Open the Door!

Behold, I stand at the door and knock!  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me.  ~ Jesus

We are looking for Someone Who has already found us.
Jesus knows where you live, and He is knocking on your door.  Wherever you are right now: a house, hospital, trailer, prison cell, safe house, apartment, or on the streets, wherever you call home today, Jesus is right there with you, knocking on your door.
Not just quietly tapping, Jesus is firmly knocking.  Persistently increasing in intensity, He hits on the door, calling out to you.  Louder and louder He knocks, louder and louder He calls. Pounding on that door, whatever it takes to get your attention.
Why? Because He loves you, loves you so much that He knows you by name, loves you so much that He always has His eye on you, always has known where you are, and He wants to come in and have a meal with you. Will you open the door?
How is Jesus knocking?  Every day, in every way. Good things – blessings – show us how He loves us.  Bad things – troubles – show us how we need Him. Will you open the door?
Don’t worry about how things look at home, just open the door.  Don’t worry about the meal, just open the door.  Jesus brings the meal.  Table for two, right in your kitchen, and Jesus, the Son of God can think of no other place He’d rather be than right here with you.  As you look into His eyes, what are the burning questions you want to ask?
Jesus gives you all the answers in the Bible, so start today with these simple digestible bites.  Before you are done, you will hunger for more. And you will get to know the One you have been looking for;
the Someone Who has already found you!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, today I open the door to You, to sit down to a meal, and ask that You bring your answers to my table.  I ask in Your name, amen.

  1. What a wonderful devotion to start First 30! In the daily busyness of life I often forget that Jesus is actively seeking me.

  2. If I was having a meal with Jesus, I would talk about all the times he showed himself to me. All the experiences we had together. How beautiful the world is and the way it glorifies him. I could go on and on.
